You want your expectations to boost morale rather than stoke fears. Verify that your staff has the knowledge, skills, training, resources and access to support that they need to do what you expect of them. Also, for best results, let your people know what they can expect from you. Be honest and transparent about the role you’ll play, and invite them to hold you to it.
